Exclusive Interview with Marcia Chisolm on her brand new album "Simply Worship"
Marcia Chisolm is one of the latest worship leaders to cause a stir in Christian music with the release of her brand new album "Simply Worship." Her single "Used" written by Tasha Cobbs is currently lighting up radio airwaves and it's becoming one of this year's most successful Gospel singles. After being involved in singing the Lord's praises since she was 2 years-old, Chisolm is a veteran when it comes to worship. Prior to the release of "Simply Worship," she has has opened for Ron Kenoly & Don Moen. She has also done background vocals for Dorinda Clark-Cole, Karen Clark-Sheard, Pastor Hezekiah Walker, Dottie Peoples, Byron Cage Vashawn Mitchell and Kelly Price. We are honored to be able to catch up with Marcia on this exclusive interview to chat about her new album, worship and more:
Hallels: Marica, thank you for agreeing to do this interview with us. Tell us a little about who you are and your life's journey.
I am a wife and mother first and foremost! I am a worship leader and most of all a lover of God and His people.Hallels: Why did you choose to record a live worship album rather than a studio Gospel record? I am a live singer lol! I'm not a fan of the studio and most of all I love the energy of a live session!
Hallels: Since this new album is about worship, what does "worship" mean to you?
Worship is the ability to be on the authentic presence of God and experience change!! Worship is about how much He means to you and the ability to show Him.
Hallels: Since many of our readers could be worship leaders in churches, what advice do you have for them leading worship?
The best advice that I have it to LEAD in worship! No fussing,no beating them down...just worship! If you become the lead worshipper it will be easier for the people to follow your lead!
Hallels: Let's talk about your new record "Simply Worship." I love the Tasha Cobbs penned "Used" (which is also your single), what led you to record this song? Do you know Tasha personally?
I do know Tasha..we are really good friends! I called her up and asked if she had a song that would fit my album and she sent over Used and the rest is history!
Hallels: As I hear your new album over and over again, I could sense the Holy Spirit moving throughout the recording. What were some of the most memorable moments when you were making the album?
Wow! That's hard to choose lol! From beginning to end The Lord came in ! My most memorable moment is after Send your rain we couldn't move on for at least 35 minutes !! It was such a sweet spirit in the church!
Hallels: What are two of your most favorite songs off the album and why?
You are trying to get me in trouble lol! It's very difficult for me to pick 2 songs from the project. I truly love them all !
Hallels: With the release of this new record, where can fans go to purchase it and find out more information about you?
Anyone who would like to get the project can find it in stores as well as online! To contact me they can go to my website www.maricachisolm.com and you can find me on Facebook/Instagram and twitter @maricachisolm
