Lisa Bevere Writes First Children’s Picture Book, "Lizzy the Lioness"
Lisa Bevere, internationally known speaker and New York Times bestselling author, has written her first children's picture book, Lizzy the Lioness (Oct. 3, 2017). The book offers a unique angle on bravery for children. Through the adventures of Lizzy, the littlest lion, kids can see that instead of putting themselves in danger, sometimes the bravest thing to do is to ask for help.
Bevere named the main character of the book after her granddaughter, Elizabeth, AKA "Lizzy." As a grandmother, the concepts of strength and bravery were particularly important for Bevere to impart to Lizzy early on.
"In this day and age, our children are sometimes seeing things that they don't know how to navigate," said Bevere. "We, as parents and grandparents, need to have these conversations with them, so that they can bring their concerns to us. I wanted children to know that no matter how little they are, nobody can take their voice away from them. Sometimes the most courageous thing they can do is ask for help."
In the book, Lizzy may be small, but that doesn't mean she can't overcome the obstacles that come her way. Lizzy the Lioness teaches young boys and girls about bravery and teamwork.
"We are delighted to partner with Lisa Bevere on her first children's book," said Laura Minchew, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Gift Books, Tommy Nelson Children's Books and New Media at HarperCollins Christian Publishing. "She is one of the most dynamic, passionate and energetic Christian speakers of our time. Lisa's book is a unique twist on bravery and is particularly relevant and timely.
A New York Times best-selling author, Bevere's previous books-which include Fight Like a Girl, Lioness Arising, Girls with Swords, and Without Rival-are in the hands of millions worldwide. Lisa and her husband John, who's also a best-selling author and teacher, are the founders of Messenger International, an organization committed to developing uncompromising followers of Christ who transform their world. Bevere spends most of her time speaking and writing messages that empower the local church and transform the lives of those who recognize her boldness and passion for the Lord.
