Daniel Coleman, the creator of the popular children's YouTube series Danny Go!, announced that his 14-year-old son Isaac has died after a battle with stage 3 mouth cancer. Isaac died on May 21, 2026 - months after being diagnosed in December 2025.
Coleman shared the news on Instagram in a tribute that was raw, grief-filled, and quietly beautiful: "Oh my sweet boy. There's so much I want to say, but I don't know how yet. I already miss you so much, and the pain in my heart is far more than I can process. But looking through thousands of pictures and videos this past week, I'm also filled with tremendous pride. Your 14 years were full of so many challenges, but you met them all with such grit - and you somehow kept your trademark joy in spite of it all. You truly had a spark like no other, Isaac. Being your dad was the honor of a lifetime. I'm so proud of you and I love you forever. Rest peacefully, son."
Who Is Danny Go?
Danny Go! is a live-action educational children's show filled with music, movement, and silliness that inspires learning and off-the-couch exercise for kids ages 3 to 7. It also runs on Netflix. Daniel Coleman stars as the titular Danny alongside his wife Mindy Coleman, who plays Mindy Mango. For millions of families - including many in the faith community - the show has become a staple of childhood, the kind of thing kids ask to watch before breakfast.
Behind the dancing and the silliness was a father who was quietly carrying something enormous.
A Battle the Family Never Hid
Isaac had Fanconi anemia, a rare genetic disorder that increases the risk of cancer. Coleman first announced Isaac's diagnosis in December 2025, writing: "We always knew this day was coming, as it's a near certainty with Fanconi anemia. But it's definitely hitting a little earlier than we hoped. It's still just such a shocking thing to hear about your child, even if you've braced for it for years."
When the cancer continued to spread aggressively despite surgery, Coleman canceled his entire 2026 live show tour to be at his son's side. He kept his audience updated with honesty and grace throughout - never disappearing, never pretending, always showing up.
In April, Coleman shared what would be his final update on Isaac's treatment: "It's still difficult for me to process and talk about. His cancer has continued to spread aggressively and his energy levels have dropped very low. He has a hospice team onboard now to help manage the pain and we are just doing our best to make each day as enjoyable and restful as possible for him."
"Trademark Joy"
What Coleman kept returning to in his tribute was not the illness. It was the joy. A 14-year-old boy who was born with a condition that made cancer nearly inevitable - and who somehow, through all of it, kept what his father called his "trademark joy."
That is a testimony. Not the kind delivered from a stage, but the quieter and harder kind - lived out in hospital rooms and family photographs and the ordinary days that turned out to be anything but.
Fans of Danny Go! flooded social media with condolences, prayers, and messages of support for the Coleman family. For parents who have watched the show with their own children, the grief is personal. Because Daniel Coleman spent years dancing with their kids on screen - and now he is standing in the hardest place a parent can stand.
Pray for the Coleman family. And if you have children who love Danny Go, hold them a little tighter today.
