T.S.O. Brings the Gospel into Rap Music: An Exclusive Interview

T.S.O

Christian rapper T.S.O. (Totally Sold Out) has just released his brand new single "All I Know." T.S.O. tries to stay true to the genre of rap with his bass-bumping beats as well as making it all too clear that he's been "saved." From the gutter to the gospel, he lacks very little, giving listeners an unforgettable musical experience that is sure to transform a seemingly lost soul into a surefire legend.  And if this single is any indication of what this artist comprehensively offers, the bridge between music deemed "saved" and secular is about to get a lot smaller.

He joins Tyscot Records together with some heavenly heavy-hitters by his side. Gospel titans, Canton Jones and Uncle Reece also lend their vocals and Zoemane of KingzOf produces the effort. But this newcomer is not really new, having shared the stage with such as Da T.R.U.T.H., Flame, Thisl, Jai, D MAUB, Tye Tribbett, Demita Haddon, Chris Searcy, and more, over the last two years.

We are so honored to catch up with T.S.O. for this exclusive Hallels' interview.

Hallels:  Thank you so much for doing this interview with us.  Can you tell us more yourself and your calling to sing?

Thank you for having me.  I was saved in April 2008, shortly thereafter I was spiritually moved to minister to youth by way of Christian Hip Hop.

Hallels:  Rap is a genre that has sadly been cluttered with lots of violence, swearing and sex.  What do you intend to bring to rap music that leads people to the Gospel?

The truth.  My music isn't heavily loaded wiht bible verses word for word, instead it relates to all walks of life, saved or unsaved.  If the words aren't relatable, the rythmic sound and beat of the music are sure to catch their attention.

Hallels:  Let's talk about your new single "All I Know."  For our readers who have not heard the song yet, what's the song about?

The song is a direct reflection of where I stand in my walk with Christ.  Jesus is all I know and the only way I know to accomplish my dreams.  He is my central focus in everything I do musically and in the world.  It's an encouraging uplifter for listeners to keep God in the center of their life.

Hallels:  Are you following up this single with an upcoming album?  If so, when will the album be released?

I am working on my album and a short film.  The release date for the album has not been determined as of yet.

Hallels:  Who have you worked with or planning to work with for your upcoming album?

I plan to work with just about everybody in Christian Hip Hop.  Very similar to reading the book of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the Bible... you are hearing the same stories... just from their point of view.  You don't skip one book because you've read another.  That's how I feel when it comes to collaborating with like-minded artists.  Everybody has a story to tell in their own words.

Hallels:  Speaking of the Gospel, what does it mean to be "totally sold out" for Jesus?

LOL, I will let you know when I get there.  My name is my constant reminder of where I want to be in life.  I press forward to get there daily.  My desire is for others to see the God in me and my music, and my walk with Christ bringing me closer and closer in His image.

Hallels:  For our readers who would like to purchase your new single or find out more about you, where can they go?

They can search Soundcloud for TSO, and keep up with me on Facebook @TSO and Instagram @1TSO for latest news and performances!"All I Know" will be available for download shortly.
