Hillsong UNITED is Billboard's Best Performing Christian Artist for 2014
Once just a surburban church of only 45 worshippers, today Hillsong Church is a megachurch that is servicing the church of God worldwide with its music such as "Shout to the Lord," "Worthy is the Lamb," "God is Able," "Hosanna" and many others. This week Hillsong UNITED, the Australian church's younger worship team, hits another milestone as they are Billboard's best performing Christian artist for 2014.
Thanks to their worship ballad "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)," Hillsong UNITED has been heard constantly all over Christian radio in the US for 2014. "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" opened the chart year at No. 1 and spent 45 straight weeks there, only to be bump from the summit when Carrie Underwood's "Something in the Water" bowed atop the chart in October (she's dominated the list ever since).
Hillsong UNITED is also No. 1 in the Billboard overall Top Christian Artists recap (and they are the top duo/group for the year). Coming in at No. 2 is Christian hip-hop star Lecrae, followed by format veterans Newsboys (No. 3), Casting Crowns (No. 4), MercyMe (No. 5) and NeedToBreathe (No. 6). Underwood, thanks to the strength of her smash single, finishes the year as the No. 7 Top Christian Artist, and the top female Christian Artist as well.
Further, Hillsong UNITED is the No. 1 act on the Christian Airplay Artists chart, thanks again to its inescapable "Oceans" hit (43 weeks on the Christian Airplay chart, peaking at No. 1 in May).
Here are the lyrics to "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail):"
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand
And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now
So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
[6x]
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
Oh, Jesus, you're my God!
I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine
