This is great news for ASUS as this is their first time to ever hold the top spot in Japan.

BCN research is a well based company that has sales data of 177 leading digital electronic products from 22 retailers. There are a lot of factors that have made ASUS tablets really popular in Japan. The price of course did play a huge role in ASUS success. The ASUS Nexus 7 cost 20,000 yen in Japan while the Apple's iPad goes for 40,000 yen. This clearly shows why people are buying the ASUS tablets over Apple tablets. The Budget MeMo Pad tablet was apparently also very popular with the price being set at 20,000 yen.

Another factor that made the ASUS tablets popular is the wide variety of products they have. Noting that the Android based Nexus 7 and other various Window based tablets were also very popular.

Apple however had their smartphones top the market according to the reports released with the company maintaining better than 50% share of the market while NEC Personal Computers led the market in laptop sales.

The report says that all in all smartphones and notebooks sales were slow during the month of April throughout June with the notebook sales dropping 15.8% and the smartphone 30% during the same period.
