Gospel Legend Bishop Norman Hutchins Passes Away at 62

Beloved gospel music icon, pastor, and recording artist Bishop Norman Hutchins passed away peacefully at his home in Carson, California, on Wednesday, June 5, 2025, at the age of 62. His wife, Karen Hutchins, confirmed his passing in a heartfelt statement. The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.
Bishop Hutchins was a towering figure in gospel music and Christian ministry for more than three decades. Known for timeless worship anthems such as "Battlefield," "Emmanuel," and "God Is Faithful," he released ten acclaimed albums, many of which charted on Billboard's Gospel Albums chart. His songs resonated with audiences worldwide, blending profound spiritual truth with soul-stirring melodies.
Born on September 27, 1962, in Delaware, Hutchins began preaching at the age of 8 and was ordained by 12. In 1992, he launched a successful solo music career and later founded Frontline Ministries in Dover, Delaware. His work as both a worship leader and pastor touched countless lives, cultivating a legacy of faith, resilience, and unwavering dedication to the Gospel.
Bishop Hutchins bravely battled serious health challenges, including diabetes-related blindness and kidney failure. His wife, Karen, donated a kidney to him in a remarkable act of love and sacrifice-an experience the couple often shared as a testimony of faith and healing. In his final years, Hutchins continued to write, preach, and minister, most recently through his powerful book "Father, I Never Knew You."
He was scheduled to appear at New Life Community Church in Tyler, Texas, for a book signing and musical performance on June 12, underscoring his enduring commitment to ministry until his final days.
Tributes have poured in from across the gospel music community and beyond, celebrating Hutchins as a gifted songwriter, a shepherd to many, and a man of profound spiritual depth.
Further details regarding memorial services will be announced in the coming days.
