Michael Howard, 37, a former musician associated with TrueSong, the worship group connected with Answers in Genesis attractions including the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following his conviction on multiple counts of child sexual abuse.

According to court records, Howard was convicted on 28 counts of sexual abuse and one count of sodomy involving a victim who was a minor when the abuse began. The incidents occurred over a period of years and involved a teenager who had been under Howard's influence and care. As part of his sentence, Howard is also required to register as a sex offender for life under Kentucky law.

Howard previously served in church music ministry, including a role at Florence Baptist Temple in Burlington, Kentucky, and was involved with TrueSong during performances connected to Answers in Genesis venues. In a statement issued following the conviction, Answers in Genesis confirmed that Howard is no longer affiliated with the organization and stated that his departure occurred before the ministry became aware of the investigation. The organization also expressed concern for the victim and requested prayer for all those affected.

The case has prompted renewed conversations within Christian communities about accountability, safeguarding minors, and the responsibility of churches and ministries to ensure strong protective measures are in place. Howard is currently in custody and will serve his sentence as ordered by the court.
