Anything New on Nancy Guthrie? Luke Daley Breaks Silence After Detainment

Published: Mar 03, 2026 05:31 AM EST

Is there anything new on Nancy Guthrie?

Yes. Luke Daley - the Tucson man briefly detained last month in connection with the 84-year-old's disappearance - is now publicly speaking for the first time.

Daley says he has no involvement in Nancy Guthrie's case and wants her found safely.

"I don't [have any information]," Daley told True Crime Arizona. "If I did, I would happily tell the FBI, police - anything. I, like everyone else, just want Nancy to come home and be safe."

His comments mark the first time he has personally addressed the situation since search warrants were executed at his home on February 13.

"It's On Me"

Daley and his 77-year-old mother were detained for several hours while law enforcement searched their residence and vehicle. He was later released without charges.

In the interview, Daley described being handcuffed and placed in a patrol car during the search.

"All the dates I was telling them where I was," he said. "All you have to do is look at my phone and see my location."

Authorities have not publicly identified him as a suspect, and no charges have been filed in connection with Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.

When asked about online speculation - including claims that he resembles a masked individual seen in doorbell footage - Daley firmly denied it.

"It is absolutely not me."

Living Under Suspicion

While legally cleared for now, Daley says the public attention has changed his daily life.

"I can't go anywhere," he said. "Everyone gives me dirty looks. I'd like to be able to go about my life and not have this shadow of doubt cast over me."

His attorney has previously stated that Daley has "no link whatsoever" to Nancy Guthrie and is fully cooperating with authorities.

Still, in high-profile missing persons cases, public suspicion often lingers long after official statements.

Where the Case Stands Now

As of March 3, 2026:

  • No suspects have been officially named

  • No arrests have been made

  • The investigation remains active

The Pima County Sheriff's Department has confirmed that the inquiry is ongoing but has not released additional details.

For now, Daley's public denial is the most significant new development in recent days.

A Community Still Waiting

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on February 1. Weeks later, her family and the Tucson community continue to wait for answers.

Cases like this often generate intense speculation online. But law enforcement continues to urge the public to rely on verified information rather than rumor.

For many in the area, the focus remains simple: finding Nancy.

Local churches and faith leaders have continued to call for prayer, wisdom for investigators, and protection for those involved.

As the search continues, Luke Daley's message is clear - he says he is not involved and hopes the investigation leads to Nancy's safe return.

For now, that is the latest confirmed update.
