Your existing JubileeCast article covered the moment the Chicago Bulls waived Jaden Ivey. This is what happened next - and it is a story nobody expected.
Days after losing his NBA roster spot, the 24-year-old guard did not go quiet. He went public - on a street corner, microphone in hand, preaching the Gospel to anyone who would listen.
The Viral Video
A viral video clip showing Ivey preaching in Chicago racked up more than 40,000 views after being posted over the weekend by TikTok user Kedrick Atwater. The footage showed the six-foot-three former guard wearing a black shirt, red sweats, and sneakers, pacing as he spoke into a microphone. Behind him, a man held a sign that read: "JESUS DIED FOR YOU! GOD LOVES AND WANTS TO SAVE YOU FROM YOUR SINS. REPENT OF SIN. BELIEVE THE GOSPEL. OBEY JESUS."
Ivey quoted Matthew 5:8 - "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God" - addressing a small crowd gathered around him. The Sermon on the Mount, preached not from a pulpit but from a sidewalk.
"That Is a Lie"
Ivey has not backed down from his position that his faith - not his conduct - was the real reason for the Bulls' decision.
"My conduct was not detrimental to the team," he said on the PinPoint Podcast. "That is a lie. I was a good teammate to those around me. I did exactly what the coach asked me to do on a daily basis."
He went further: "It is strictly because I spoke the truth of the word of God and was preaching the Gospel. That's why it was detrimental to the team."
A Story Deeper Than Basketball
What many have not reported is how personal Ivey's faith actually is. In the same podcast, he revealed he has survived more than the court ever saw.
"I almost committed suicide. I had Oxy pills in my hands, and my wife was telling me, 'Don't do it. Don't do this.' And God was convicting me. I didn't do it by God's grace. He kept me here," he said.
He also pushed back on those calling his behavior erratic: "They don't say to somebody who's going to clubs, 'Are you crazy?' But to be the Christian proclaiming the truth, preaching the Gospel - I'm looked at as crazy."
What Comes Next
Ivey's NBA future remains uncertain as off-court developments continue to overshadow his career. He was a fifth overall pick in the 2022 draft - a player with real talent and real promise. Whether any team signs him remains to be seen.
But one thing is clear: losing the Bulls did not silence him. If anything, it gave him a bigger platform - and he is using every bit of it.
"Not my will be done, but His will be done." - Jaden Ivey
