If you have worshipped to "Counting My Blessings," been moved by Tauren Wells' "Known," or caught Lauren Daigle on Christian radio in recent years, there is a strong chance Jonathan Gamble or Jordan Sapp - or both - helped write what you heard. This week, Capitol Christian Music Group confirmed that both songwriters have re-signed exclusive publishing agreements with the label, cementing a relationship that has already produced billions of streams and some of the most-played songs in contemporary Christian music.

The announcement, made April 20, comes as no surprise to those inside Nashville's CCM community. Gamble and Sapp have each quietly built rosters of hits that would make any publisher hold on tight.

Gamble relocated from Anniston, Alabama to Nashville in 2019, signing with Capitol CMG Publishing in December 2021. Since then he has earned No. 1 radio hits with Jamie MacDonald's "Desperate," Leanna Crawford's "Still Waters (Psalm 23)," and Seph Schlueter's viral "Counting My Blessings," while accumulating cuts with Lauren Daigle, Danny Gokey, Jesus Culture, Tauren Wells, Josiah Queen, Ben Fuller, and MaRynn Taylor across worship, CCM, country, pop, and EDM. He has now surpassed 160 total cuts and 1.3 billion streams worldwide, and earned a Dove Award nomination along the way.

Sapp came from a different direction entirely. He built his early career in Los Angeles as part of RedOne's production team, working alongside mainstream acts before relocating to Nashville and finding his footing in faith-based music. The results have been extraordinary: 16 No. 1 radio singles including Tauren Wells' "Known" and "Famous For (I Believe)," Jeremy Camp's "Dead Man Walking" and "Keep Me in the Moment," Maverick City Music's "Constant," and Jamie MacDonald's "Desperate." He holds 6 Dove Awards including Producer of the Year in 2021, a Grammy nomination, a Songwriter of the Year nomination in 2025, and over 4.1 billion total streams to his name.

"Jonathan is a true student of the craft of songwriting. Jordan is one of the most kind and humble people I have met in this business. We are finding new and creative ways to incentivize them to lean in and partner with CCMG artists going forward." - David Gutekunst, EVP of Publishing, Capitol CMG

Capitol CMG EVP of Publishing David Gutekunst described the renewed deals as more than a continuation - noting that the new agreements include fresh incentives designed to deepen both writers' collaboration with CCMG's artist roster going forward. Sr. Director of Creative Publishing Katie Barolak added that beyond the numbers, it is the character of both writers that makes the partnership meaningful.

For the global church, songs are one of the primary ways faith is expressed, passed on, and held onto through difficult seasons. The fact that two of the writers most responsible for shaping what congregations sing on Sunday mornings have committed to staying in that lane - and building on it - is quietly significant news for anyone who has ever been lifted by a lyric they did not know they needed.
