Brandon Lake Urges Christian Artists to ‘Don’t Buy the Lie’ During Powerful K-LOVE Fan Awards Speech

Brandon Lake used one of the biggest moments of his career to deliver a passionate challenge to fellow Christian artists at the 2026 K-LOVE Fan Awards.

The "Hard Fought Hallelujah" singer was honored with both Artist of the Year and Male Artist of the Year after fans voted him among Christian music's most influential voices. The awards ceremony took place at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House and celebrated many of the genre's leading artists.

While accepting the top honor, Lake set aside the speech he had prepared and instead shared what he felt God had placed on his heart. Speaking directly to artists and industry leaders in attendance, he encouraged them not to be discouraged by the challenges facing culture today.

"There is a reason why the secular space is looking at ours, and they're taking note," Lake said. "God is raising up new Davids. God is doing something really beautiful in our nation. So don't buy the lie. Even though there's craziness going on out there, the darker that it gets, the brighter your light is going to shine."

Lake has emerged as one of contemporary Christian music's most recognizable artists, earning chart success and expanding his audience through collaborations with mainstream artists including Jelly Roll, Nick Jonas, and Lainey Wilson. Yet his message at the K-LOVE Fan Awards focused less on career achievements and more on the responsibility he believes Christian artists have to reach people outside church walls.

Encouraging artists to step beyond familiar environments, Lake challenged attendees to intentionally bring the message of Jesus into places where faith is less visible.

"I want to encourage you. If the rooms you're in are really bright, find a new room," he said. "If you carry the light of Christ inside of you, go find a room that's a little darker, because the world needs you. They need your story."

Lake also revealed that he has been having conversations with influential figures across the broader entertainment industry and believes there is a growing spiritual hunger among people searching for truth.

"I'm having a lot of conversations with a lot of artists in a lot of very influential places," he shared. "You just would never believe how hungry people are for the truth, and there's so many that are this close."

The award-winning singer concluded by urging Christian artists to leave their comfort zones and actively pursue opportunities to share their faith wherever God opens doors.

"So artists, may I dare you to get outside of your comfort zone, go across the street, go across the country," Lake said. "Listen, I'm going to be that guy that stays in the church, but I will never stop moving towards the lost. That's what I'm about, that's what I'm doing, that's what you're going to see."

Lake's remarks were among the most talked-about moments of the evening, reflecting both his growing influence within Christian music and his desire to see artists use their platforms to reach people beyond traditional ministry settings.
