Andy Mineo and Wordsplayed are nearly nine years removed from their debut collaboration Magic & Bird - and with the new EP Fire From Above now out, the full sequel is one week away.
Mineo confirmed the release date for Magic & Bird 2 via a freestyle video, announcing the album will drop on Friday, June 26. The Fire From Above EP, released June 12 via Miner League, serves as the final preview before that date.
The original Magic & Bird in 2017 helped define a generation of Christian rap fans. Nearly a decade later, the two are returning to a genre that is larger, more influential, and considerably more fragmented than the one they left.
According to Mineo, the thing that finally made Magic & Bird 2 possible had nothing to do with technology - it was proximity. For years, fans assumed the two simply weren't interested in making another project together.
The rollout has been immersive - Mineo and Wordsplayed each wiped their main Instagram feeds and launched MagicAndBird.com, a dedicated site where fans can access an exclusive timeline, videos, events, and more leading up to the release.
Wordsplayed, born John Itiola in Nigeria and now based in San Diego, has been part of Mineo's creative circle since their early days together at a community outreach program where they first met.
The partnership runs deeper than music - it's a friendship built on a shared faith and a shared calling.
For CHH fans who have been waiting since 2017, Fire From Above is confirmation: the rivalry continues, and the full album arrives June 26.
