Six months after Nancy Guthrie vanished from her Tucson-area home, "Today" co-host Savannah Guthrie is asking the public for prayer as investigators release new details in the case.
Hours after the Pima County Sheriff's Office released the text of two ransom notes tied to her mother's disappearance, Savannah Guthrie shared a photo of Nancy on Instagram alongside a heartfelt message. "This is our beautiful Mom," she wrote, describing six months of living "in agony and despair" since Nancy was taken from her bed in the dead of night. "We need your prayers, we need your kindness," she continued, appealing to anyone who might recognize the handwriting or wording in the notes to come forward.
Sheriff Chris Nanos addressed the Guthrie family in a video statement posted the same day. "We're still here. We are not going away," he said, adding that investigators continue reviewing tens of thousands of tips, videos, and forensic leads. He also reiterated that no member of the Guthrie family is considered a suspect.
The first ransom note, sent February 2, demanded a bitcoin payment and warned the family against involving law enforcement. The second, sent four days later, claimed Nancy had died shortly after being taken. Investigators have not confirmed this claim and say both notes came from the same source.
A combined reward for information now tops $1.2 million, and a joint Pima County-FBI task force remains active on the case. Through the uncertainty, the Guthrie family has continued to lean publicly on faith, with Savannah closing her post writing, "We will never stop looking for answers - and we will never stop looking for the light... This is what our faith makes possible."
