Minnie Driver is recovering in London after surviving a serious car accident in France earlier this week, telling fans she and a friend narrowly escaped with their lives.
In an Instagram video posted Thursday, the "Good Will Hunting" and "Emily in Paris" star said she was in France with friend Ben Homewood when "a car didn't stop at an intersection and was going at speed, and we just T-boned it." She said the crash happened on a country road and that neither she nor Homewood were at fault.
Driver, 56, sustained a sprained neck and said she is "in shock" and processing the emotional weight of the accident, admitting she cries frequently as she heals. She and Homewood escaped the wreck under their own strength - "we didn't walk out of it, we crawled out of it," she said - but both survived.
Driver credited the vehicle's safety features, a Kia EV2, with saving their lives, praising its 360-degree airbags. She also thanked her friends and family for their support as she continues to process what happened, writing that "weeping too, feels good and helpful."
Driver has kept a light tone even in the aftermath, joking on her Instagram story that she may need to change her name to "Kia Driver." But beneath the humor is a plainer truth she returned to again and again in her update: she is still here, and she knows it easily could have gone differently.
