Tasha Cobbs Leonard is ditching the script - and going straight back to the kind of live worship that made millions fall in love with her voice in the first place.
The three-time Grammy winner has announced her new live album, Tasha Unscripted, arriving September 11 via Motown Gospel/Capitol Christian Music Group. And if the guest list is anything to go by, Cobbs Leonard isn't exactly making her return to live worship quietly.
Recorded live in Atlanta earlier this year, the project grew out of Cobbs Leonard's sold-out Tasha Unscripted recording event, which brought together an impressive collection of gospel and music heavyweights. Kierra Sheard-Kelly, Jonathan McReynolds, Karen Clark Sheard, Mickey Guyton, Israel Houghton and Le'Andria Johnson were among the artists involved in the night.
Now fans are getting another taste of what happened in the room.
Cobbs Leonard has released "Gracefully Broken/Who The Son Sets Free (Live)," featuring Israel Houghton. The pairing is especially fitting: "Gracefully Broken" has long been one of Cobbs Leonard's signature worship songs, while Houghton's "Who the Son Sets Free" gives the performance another familiar worship anthem to work with. The official live video is also now available through Cobbs Leonard's channels.
The new album marks a noticeable return to Cobbs Leonard's live-worship wheelhouse following 2025's TASHA, a more expansive studio project that incorporated gospel alongside R&B, hip-hop, pop, bluegrass and worship. That experiment certainly paid off: TASHA debuted at No. 1 on multiple gospel and Christian album charts and earned two 2026 Grammy nominations.
But Unscripted appears to be taking things in the opposite direction.
Rather than polishing every moment into a tightly controlled studio performance, the new era is being built around spontaneity. Cobbs Leonard's accompanying Tasha Unscripted Nights Tour promises fan favorites alongside spontaneous, spirit-led moments, essentially attempting to recreate what happened at that packed Atlanta recording.
And she's taking it on the road almost immediately.
The tour kicks off September 11 in Charlotte - the same day the album arrives - before moving through cities including Brunswick, Atlanta, Washington, New York, Boston and Raleigh. More dates are expected to follow.
For longtime fans, however, the biggest story may simply be hearing Cobbs Leonard back in her natural habitat: standing in front of a live congregation, stretching songs beyond their expected boundaries and letting the worship determine where the music goes next.
After TASHA showed just how far she could push her sound, Tasha Unscripted sounds like the superstar worship leader coming home.
