Tom Holland and Zendaya apparently have another monster hit on their hands.
After already tearing through box-office records during its opening week, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is showing very little interest in slowing down. The Sony/Marvel Studios blockbuster is now expected to rake in a staggering $135 million to $140 million-plus domestically during its second weekend.
If those estimates hold, Brand New Day will score the third-biggest second weekend in U.S. box-office history.
The only movies standing above Spidey are Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which earned $149.2 million during its second weekend, and Avengers: Endgame, which pulled in $147.3 million.
That means Holland and Zendaya could officially send Avengers: Infinity War - and its $114.7 million sophomore weekend - down another spot in the record books.
And things could get even crazier.
Brand New Day is projected to finish Sunday with approximately $650.8 million domestically after just 10 days. That would put the movie about 5% ahead of Avengers: Endgame at the same stage of its theatrical run.
Yes, Spider-Man is currently moving faster than Endgame.
The film had already become the fastest movie ever to cross $500 million domestically, reaching the milestone in only seven days. Endgame needed eight.
Its updated Thursday haul of $29 million pushed Brand New Day to $510.8 million in North America before its second weekend had even properly begun.
The movie is expected to add roughly $40 million on Friday alone.
There is, however, one statistic that sounds far more dramatic than it actually is: Friday is projected to fall approximately 76% from the movie's enormous $169.8 million opening Friday/previews haul. Given how heavily opening-day numbers are inflated by previews and die-hard fans rushing to see superhero movies immediately, the weekend total is a much better indication of just how strongly Spidey is holding.
And the competition isn't even close.
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is expected to take second place in its fourth weekend with another $28.5 million, bringing its domestic total to approximately $458.1 million. The epic has already crossed $1 billion worldwide and is closing in on becoming Nolan's biggest global box-office hit.
Meanwhile, Universal's new Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro rom-com One Night Only is fighting for third place with an estimated $6 million opening weekend.
Disney's seemingly unstoppable Toy Story 5 is still hanging around in fourth place, targeting another $4.3 million in its eighth weekend and pushing its domestic haul to roughly $470.8 million.
Super Troopers 3 is expected to round out the Top 5 with approximately $4 million.
But this weekend clearly belongs to Peter Parker.
With Brand New Day potentially sitting above $650 million domestically after only 10 days, the question is quickly changing from whether Holland's latest Spider-Man movie is a blockbuster to just how high it can climb on the all-time box-office chart.
And if its current pace continues, some of Marvel's biggest records may suddenly be looking a lot less secure.
