Cristiano Ronaldo has given his clearest signal yet that retirement is near, telling Vogue his upcoming season with Al-Nassr will likely be his last.
"This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy," Ronaldo said in the interview, published days after he married longtime partner Georgina Rodriguez. The couple exchanged vows at Funchal Cathedral in Madeira, Portugal - Ronaldo's birthplace - following a three-month engagement, according to Jornal da Madeira.
The 41-year-old, whose Al-Nassr contract runs through June 2027, has hinted at a timeline before but never committed this directly. "I have my future all mapped out," he told Vogue. "Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one" - pointing to more time with family, travel, and padel.
Ronaldo's career closed its international chapter last month when Portugal fell to Spain in the World Cup Round of 16, a match he described afterward in distinctly spiritual terms, crediting his faith for carrying him through the tournament's toughest stretches.
