Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for Ghost Soldier, a new action-thriller starring Jim Caviezel - the actor best known to Christian audiences for playing Jesus in The Passion of the Christ.

Caviezel plays Henry "Fitz" Fitzgerald, a former Green Beret living quietly off the grid until a foreign corporation moves to seize his community's land, forcing him into a one-man war to defend it. The film also stars Olivia Thirlby, Beau Knapp, Garret Dillahunt, and Shea Whigham, and is directed by William Eubank.

Speaking about the role, Caviezel pointed to the response to his 2023 film Sound of Freedom, saying audiences show up when they're given "a hero who stands for what's true," and that the same hunger for that kind of story is still there today.

It's a theme that has followed Caviezel throughout his career. Since portraying Christ in 2004, he has gravitated toward roles that carry a moral center - most notably Sound of Freedom, which became a surprise box-office phenomenon built around themes of justice and sacrifice. Ghost Soldier continues that pattern, casting him as a protector of the vulnerable against a powerful outside force.

Ghost Soldier opens in theaters November 6, 2026, and is rated PG-13 for strong violence, some bloody images, and language.

The film offers a chance to see the actor return to the kind of morally driven storytelling that has defined much of his post-Passion career - even in a very different genre.
