Morgan Wallen is heading to Vice City - with a brand-new song to prove it.
Atlantic Records and Rockstar Games announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album on September 17, a 34-track soundtrack arriving November 19, the same day as the long-awaited video game itself. Six songs dropped immediately to build anticipation, and one of them is an original Wallen track called "Last Thing You Need."
The lineup surrounding him is a genuinely unusual mix: Travis Scott's "RHYNO," produced by Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo; Yung Lean's "That's It," featuring Future and Metro Boomin; a collaboration between CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, PinkPantheress, Fred again.., and Étienne de Crécy; Rauw Alejandro's "Macacoa 2000"; and even a Keith Richards cover of the Jimmy Reed blues classic "Bright Lights, Big City."
What sets Wallen's inclusion apart, according to Country Music News Blog, is that Rockstar didn't simply license an existing hit - Wallen recorded "Last Thing You Need" specifically for the project, making him a genuine part of the album's launch rather than a licensed needle-drop.
It's a notable moment for country music's reach into mainstream pop culture, placing one of Nashville's biggest current stars alongside some of hip-hop and pop's most talked-about names on one of gaming's most anticipated releases of the decade.
The full 34-track album, along with the game itself, releases November 19.
