Josiah Queen surprised fans on September 16 with the release of "when I see You," the latest single from his upcoming third studio album, "Damascus Road," due October 23. The Dylan Thomas-produced track finds Queen reflecting on why he doesn't fear death, centered on imagining the moment he meets Jesus face to face in Heaven and how that hope shapes his faith in the present.
The song marks a quieter turn from Queen, pairing acoustic guitar with a restrained drumbeat in contrast to the folk-rock energy of "demons," an earlier "Damascus Road" single that hit No. 1 at Christian radio and topped Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart. Queen dropped the track while on tour in Europe, and fan reaction was immediate - video from a recent tour stop shows a packed crowd singing the song word for word the night it released.
"Damascus Road" will be Queen's 14-track follow-up to 2025's "Mt. Zion," which earned him a GMA Dove Award nomination for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year. Queen picked up seven Dove nominations this year total, including Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. The new album will also include previously released singles "judas," "make heaven crowded" and "sundays."
Queen, the son of two pastors, began releasing music at 16 and broke through with his 2024 debut album "The Prodigal," which topped Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart and went gold.
