Cody Johnson just notched his sixth top 10 hit on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. "Take Me Back (Leave Me There)," a track off his 2026 album "Banks of the Trinity," climbed to No. 10 this week, extending a career that's now produced six top 10 singles.
The song, a slow-burning ballad Johnson first previewed as an advance single in May, took off on social media before its official release, with an a cappella rehearsal clip drawing over 2.2 million views on TikTok. It joins hits like "'Til You Can't" and "Dirt Cheap" in Johnson's growing catalog of chart-toppers.
The Texas native is having a banner stretch. He took home ACM Entertainer of the Year earlier this year, confirmed a long-awaited collaboration with Luke Combs on the new album, and kicks off a UK and Ireland arena tour this fall alongside Parker McCollum and Emily Ann Roberts.
Johnson's success this year hasn't been limited to secular country radio, either. In January, he teamed up with Grammy-winning Christian artist Brandon Lake for a duet version of Lake's worship song "When a Cowboy Prays," after fans flooded both artists' social media demanding the pairing. The track - which paints prayer as something as ordinary and constant as rain in a drought - peaked at No. 4 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart. Johnson has since joined Lake onstage to perform it live, most recently surprising a sold-out crowd in San Antonio.
Between a new top 10 hit, a stacked touring schedule, and a faith-forward duet resonating well beyond country radio, Johnson's 2026 shows no signs of slowing down.
