Kanye West, now known as Ye, made a surprise appearance at Chris Brown and Usher's "The R&B Tour" stop at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Friday night (September 25), joining the co-headliners for an unannounced four-song set.
Wearing his signature full-face mask, Ye performed "Runaway," "All of the Lights," "Flashing Lights," and "Can't Tell Me Nothing" as the stadium crowd sang along. He didn't address the audience directly, letting the music speak for itself before exiting the stage.
The appearance marked Ye's first reported live performance since September 4, when he closed a two-night homecoming show at Chicago's Soldier Field alongside longtime collaborators including Kid Cudi, Big Sean, and Travis Scott.
Chris Brown and Usher's tour has become known for stacked surprise-guest lineups, with previous stops bringing out names like Mary J. Blige, Future, and Fat Joe. R&B legend Brandy also joined Usher onstage during the run in Los Angeles. Brown and Usher return to SoFi Stadium for a second LA night before continuing the 59-date tour, which wraps in Tampa this December.
Ye's back catalog has long carried a spiritual thread through it, from "Jesus Walks" early in his career to his 2019 gospel album Jesus Is King and the Sunday Service Choir he's led in the years since - a reminder that even in a late-night stadium cameo, faith has never been far from his music.
