Christian singer/songwriter Jamie MacDonald released her new single "Used to Be" at midnight ET, sharing the news with an emotional announcement to fans on Facebook.
"Something that's been in the works for a while is finally dropping!" MacDonald wrote. Used to Be!! I hope y'all are as excited as I am."
The song was written alongside Dwan Hill and Kyle Williams (known by his stage name Willyecho), and co-produced with Danny Lopez. MacDonald teased the release with a short video clip featuring the line "You would not believe," building anticipation among fans ahead of the drop.
MacDonald, a Michigan native now based in Nashville, signed with Capitol Christian Music Group (CCMG) in late 2024 after years working behind the scenes in the industry - contributing background vocals, choir parts, and vocal production for other artists' projects, as well as writing music for film and television. Her work has appeared in Oprah Winfrey's OWN series Queen Sugar, ABC's The Rookie, and ESPN's College Football Playoff coverage.
Her debut single, "A Million Chances," released in November 2024, introduced her soulful vocal style and lyrical honesty to Christian radio audiences. "Used to Be" marks her latest step forward as an artist stepping fully into the spotlight after years of shaping other artists' sound from behind the scenes.
