Travis Kelce won't be sitting beside his wife tonight when Taylor Swift takes one of the biggest honors of her career - and the reason has nothing to do with drama.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is on the clock in Miami Gardens, Florida, where his team faces the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium the same Sunday afternoon as the VMAs. With kickoff and the usual postgame obligations, Kelce's window to make it to Los Angeles simply isn't there - a cross-country flight from Miami runs upward of four and a half hours, well past the ceremony's 7:30 p.m. ET start.
Swift, meanwhile, is expected in Los Angeles to accept the newly created MTV VMA Artist Director Honors, an award recognizing artists whose work behind the camera has pushed music video storytelling forward. She'll also premiere the music video for her new single "Patient Zero," which she directed herself and which stars Colin Farrell and Dakota Johnson. The moment continues a season of Swift juggling two demanding careers - hers and her husband's - since the couple married this past July.
