Christian hard rock band Disciple is marking 20 years since their album Scars Remain with an anniversary merch collection that is live now and a fall tour that starts tonight, Oct. 2.
Scars Remain came out on Nov. 7, 2006, through INO Records. It produced the hits "Game On," which earned WWE and NFL licensing deals, and "After the World." The album won the 2008 Dove Award for Rock Album of the Year.
The band won't play the album front to back. Instead, they are bringing back several songs that had been retired from their setlist, alongside fan favorites. Founder and lead singer Kevin Young called the album a "lightning-in-a-bottle moment" and said it contained things the band had never done before and has not done since.
The album also means a lot to the current lineup. Drummer Joey West said he put the CD on the shelf at a Christian bookstore as a college freshman, and he still counts himself a fan. Bass player and vocalist Dane Allen said he got the CD at 15 and now gets to play "Regime Change" onstage.
