Drake's name has entered the Coachella conversation, raising the prospect of his first headlining appearance at the festival in more than a decade. But how close is the Toronto superstar to securing a return to the desert-and what does the report actually establish?
An October 2 item in HITS Daily Double's "HITS List" described Drake as "said to be in the Coachella discussion." That wording has prompted speculation about a possible 2027 headlining slot, although it does not establish that negotiations have produced a deal. Complex reports that Drake's involvement remains unannounced.
The possibility carries considerable history. Drake headlined Coachella in 2015, with Madonna's surprise appearance becoming one of the set's most talked-about moments. He subsequently joined Future as a surprise guest in 2017, meaning a headline return next year would come 12 years after his previous top-billed performance.
The timing also fits his stated plans to perform in 2027. In a September interview with Canada's etalk, Drake indicated that a tour was coming and that other major performances were on the horizon. Those comments give fans a reason to watch his schedule, although they do not confirm a Coachella booking.
The festival speculation arrives alongside the release of Habibti (FOMO), an expanded edition of his earlier project. New music and an anticipated return to touring provide a backdrop for a potential festival appearance, but neither resolves the question of whether Drake will accept-or receive-a headline slot.
There are other prominent names in the mix. According to Complex, citing earlier HITS Daily Double reporting, Tame Impala, Dua Lipa and Fred again.. are expected to appear, while organizers have reportedly pursued additional acts including BTS, SZA, Oasis and Radiohead. These remain reported booking prospects rather than a complete official lineup.
Coachella's official website lists its 2027 weekends as April 9-11 and April 16-18. For now, the intriguing question is whether Drake's name will move from an industry discussion onto the festival poster-and what he would bring to a stage he last headlined in 2015.
