Ben Affleck is giving a rare look at how he and ex-wife Jennifer Garner share parenting duties, and he says he's grateful for it.

In a new interview with Variety, the actor-director said the two alternate weeks with their children. "They're with me for a week, then with their mom for a week," Affleck said. He added that the kids have "a great thing" with Garner and that he's "really, really grateful" for her. He also said he plans his work around staying in Los Angeles because, as he put it, "I don't want to miss these years."

Affleck and Garner, who divorced in 2018 after separating in 2015, share three children, ages 20, 17 and 14. Affleck says his days are simple: he works, then picks the kids up from school.

The interviews come as he promotes Animals, his Netflix thriller, which opens in select theaters and begins streaming Friday, Oct. 9. Garner was once planned for the lead role, but Kerry Washington was cast instead. Speaking to GQ and Variety, Affleck said he still wants to "find something" to work on with Garner in the future.
