No link has been confirmed. A possible human skull fragment was found in an Oro Valley, Arizona, wash on Wednesday, October 7, but authorities have not connected it to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.

The Oro Valley Police Department said the fragment, believed to be human, was found near Vistoso Park and Innovation Park, northwest of Oracle and Tangerine Roads. Police said no other skeletal remains were located in the area. The Pima County Medical Examiner's Office has taken the fragment for examination, and investigators say it is unclear where it came from or how long it had been there.

The discovery drew attention because Guthrie, 84, the mother of "Today" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, remains missing more than eight months after she was last seen at her Catalina Foothills home on January 31. Searches for "human remains found" alongside her name have risen since the news broke.

This is not the first time such a discovery has set off online speculation. Earlier this year, remains found in the Tucson area drew similar questions before officials said they were not hers or were not connected to the case.

For now, the key facts are limited. The fragment has not been identified, the medical examiner's findings have not been released, and no timeline has been given. The Pima County Sheriff's Department and the FBI say the Guthrie investigation remains active, and Savannah Guthrie has offered a $1 million reward for information leading to her mother's safe return.

Nancy Guthrie is known for her deep Catholic faith, and her family has repeatedly asked supporters to keep praying. JubileeCast joins them in praying for her safe return.
