Journey drummer Deen Castronovo was taken to a hospital after a medical emergency during the band's concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Thursday night, October 8.
Castronovo, 62, was helped off the stage at BOK Center after the second song of the set. Keyboardist Jonathan Cain told the crowd the drummer was having a medical emergency and asked the audience to "have your prayers ready" for him. Guitarist Neal Schon returned about 10 minutes later and said Castronovo was on his way to a hospital.
After a short delay, the concert resumed with Castronovo's longtime drum technician, Steve Toomey, behind the kit. Singer Arnel Pineda asked fans to pray for "our brother Deen Castronovo," and Schon dedicated the rest of the night to him, saying he thought Castronovo would be fine.
As of Friday morning, no official details about the cause or his condition had been released, according to KRMG and Billboard. Journey has not announced any change to its lineup. The band's next scheduled stop on its Final Frontier tour is Saturday, October 10, at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
Castronovo first joined Journey in 1998 and returned in 2021. He has also played with Ozzy Osbourne, Paul Rodgers, and Bad English.
Cain, who has spoken openly about his Christian faith, put prayer first at the moment of crisis, and thousands of fans at BOK Center joined in. Please keep Deen Castronovo and his family in your prayers.
