Anthony Brown & group therAPy have another reason to celebrate: "Always Be Good" has become their seventh No. 1 single on Billboard's Gospel Airplay chart. Reaching the summit in just 13 weeks, the uplifting anthem also topped the Mediabase Gospel Airplay chart for the week ending October 10, adding a second chart victory to the group's latest release.
Released through A Major Entertainment, Tyscot and Fair Trade Services, "Always Be Good" appears on Disclosure, the group's first album in three years. The single's rise gives the project an early milestone while reinforcing Brown's ability to turn a direct message of faith into a song that connects with gospel radio listeners.
Brown wrote "Always Be Good" and co-produced it with David "D LO" Outing II, whose production credits include William Murphy and Pastor Mike Jr. At its heart, the song addresses a familiar struggle: holding on to faith when circumstances offer more questions than answers. Its response is an invitation to recognize God's goodness amid uncertainty.
"More than anything, I pray this song shifts perspective," Brown says. "In a world that often focuses on what's wrong, I hope 'Always Be Good' inspires people to intentionally look for evidence of God's goodness every single day. Because the truth is simple: circumstances may change, but God's goodness never does."
The chart achievement arrives during a busy stretch for Brown, whose recent appearances have connected his current music with the gospel tradition that helped shape him. This past weekend, he introduced a musical tribute to his late mentor, Richard Smallwood, during the 57th annual Dove Awards broadcast on TBN. Featuring Kierra Sheard, Jonathan McReynolds and Donald Lawrence, the segment celebrated Smallwood's career and musical legacy.
Brown is also on the Therapy Tour with Maurette Brown Clark, bringing his music to audiences beyond the airwaves. With his birthday approaching on October 22, the new No. 1 adds another occasion for celebration during a season of recording, touring and honoring his musical roots.
The success of "Always Be Good" builds on a career that includes nearly a billion digital streams and three Grammy Award nominations. "Worth" received a nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song in 2016, while "Help" earned recognition in the same category in 2022. The group's album 2econd Wind: Ready received a Best Gospel Album nomination in 2021.
"Worth" also remains a defining recording for Anthony Brown & group therAPy. The RIAA certified the song gold in 2019 and platinum in 2024, marking its enduring reach. Alongside six Billboard Music Award nominations across 2016 and 2018, the group's seventh Gospel Airplay No. 1 extends a record of radio success built around songs of faith, encouragement and hope.
