Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor Release Date, Gameplay, and News: New Gameplay Released Online
Middle-earth: The Shadow of Mordor is set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings Trilogy and brings us back to the world of J.R.R. Tolkien for some RPG action. The game was announced back in November 2013.
Players will take control of a ranger of Gondor named Talion, whose family is responsible for guarding the Black Gate of Mordor. When Sauron's armies attacked them, he was left for dead. He later finds out that he is alive and has gained "wraith-like abilities" and has decided to journey into Mordor to exact his revenge to those responsible for the death of his entire family.
The game is set in an open world environment where players can go about freely into Middle-earth which will give players the option to complete side quests along the way as they complete their journey. One of the best features of the game is the wraith ability. The wraith ability enables players to see the world according to how Bilbo and Frodo sees the world when they wear the One Ring. It also gives them the ability to take control of enemies by striking fear into them making them align to your cause.
Another awesome feature of the game is what the developers call the Nemesis System. The Nemesis System gives enemies the ability to recall their previous encounter with the players which will then make them act accordingly as to how to confront you. In one of the gameplays shown, an Uruk whose face was burned by the player in a previous encounter will now be twice as aggressive towards the player, wanting to get even.
Shadow of Mordor was previously announced to have a release date of October 7, 2014, but is now moved to September 30, 2014. The game will be available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox one and PC.
