American Idol 's Candice Russell Helped Make a Young Girl's Dream Come True

Candice Russell

Season 11's American Idol alum Candice Russell helped fulfill the wish of a young fan in her hometown of Portland via Make-A-Wish Oregon. Seven year-old Baybeblue Campobasso always dreamed of starring in a music video, and thanks to Make-A-Wish Oregon, that dream has come true with the just-released music video for Candice Russell's song, "So Much More" - which stars "Blue" and her family. Watch the video here: http://youtu.be/gYoCbV1eVNA.

Blue, who is battling a severe neuromuscular disorder and relies on a wheelchair, loves watching music videos on YouTube and swaying to the rhythm, says her mom, Cyndy Ledoux, and the healing properties of music bring her joy.

"It's an honor for me to do this," says Candice. "The family is amazing - watching them handle all the obstacles with grace."

After her time at American Idol, Russell has just released her debut album, So Much More (Reflect Records), in 2013.  She quickly found success when she secured the #1 song in the Top Songs category on Indiecharts.com for multiple weeks. She has been featured on Reverbnation multiple times. She has been featured multiple times on the top ten iTunes app "Video Star," where over 1.25 million young fans heard her songs. She has also been featured several times on America's #1 weekly syndicated pop/dance countdown show, Al Walser's Weekly Top20. This top 20 countdown show is currently broadcast on over 80 radio stations worldwide and boasts over 12 million listeners.

Personally, Russell has handled her own share of obstacles. As a teenager, she was diagnosed with Graves' Disease, an immune system disorder similar to hyperthyroidism. She received treatment, but medications led to complications. And while she still deals with challenges as a result, she's determined not to let it hold her back.
