Bill Murray for 'Ghostbusters 3': Is it a Yes or a No?
Sony Pictures is still pursuing actor Bill Murray to resurrect his role in "Ghostbusters 3." According to Variety, the studio wants to see the actor sign on the reboot of "Ghostbusters" for a supporting role or even in a cameo though the new movie will acknowledge the original movies. However, Murray still does seem intrigued about it. So, is it a yes or a no? The answer is still unknown as the actor does not confirm his presence in the said "Ghostbuster" franchise.
Sony is said to be negotiating with Paul Feig, the director of The "Heat and Bridesmaids," to have the filmmakers call the shots on the reboot of "Ghostbusters" that will concentrate on all-female casting. Such rumors about the casting of the reboot were confirmed recently.
The news has proven to be a bit controversial, but majority of fans support the idea. Gillian Anderson of "X-Files" has expressed her interest to join the project.
"Ghostbusters" veteran Bill Murray came at the Toronto International Film Festival where he was asked about his thoughts on the "Ghostbuster 3", the project that he is long made clear that he is not very interested to be starred in, being a reboot, which feature an all-female casting. Bill Murray said in an interview that he is fine with it. He would go to the movie and said that they probably have better outfits.
Murray even suggested the actresses who could portray as the next generation of "Ghostbusters." These include his co-star in the film "St. Vincent", Melissa McCarthy, together with Emma Stone, co-star in "Zombieland", and Kristen Wiig from the movie "Bridesmaids". He also mentioned Linda Cardellini, the latest "Mad Men" star. For him, all of these stars would definitely make the movie successful. But, the decision for the cast members still depend on the filmmakers and no matter who will chose, Murray will give his support.
In IGN, it was mentioned that even if Murray does not quite sound up for the "Ghostbusters 3," he has given a thumb up with the all-female casting. Kate Dippold will be the co-writer of the "Ghostbusters 3."
