The Hoppers to be Inducted into North Carolina Music Hall of Fame
It was announced that THE HOPPERS will be honored with induction into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame. The induction is set to take place on October 18, 2018, in Kannapolis, North Carolina. The announcement was made by the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in a press release issued today.
The group will be inducted alongside other noted North Carolinians: John Tesh, Chris Daughtry, Dolphus Ramseur, Luther Barnes, Calvin Richardson and Blind Boy Fuller.
"North Carolina has always been home to The Hoppers," said Connie Hopper. "Our gospel music ministry originated in our home church in Madison,North Carolinain 1957. For over six decades we have presented the message in song and the ministry remains current. We are excited and honored for this induction into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame."
The induction ceremony will be open to the public and tickets are expected to go on sale late Spring. The red carpet event will commemorate each inductee and showcase the important contributions they have made to American music. The 2018 inductions will mark the major milestone of the organization's 10th annual ceremony.
Upon the induction, The Hoppers will join other noted inductees through the years, such as Tony Brown, Tori Amos, Shirley Caesar, Ronnie Milsap, Stonewall Jackson, Randy Travis, Mike Curb, Nina Simone, Eric Church and many more.
Hailing from Madison, NC, GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame members The Hoppers - known as America's Favorite Family of Gospel Music - have been singing to global audiences for over 60 years with appearances ranging from presidential religious inaugural ceremonies and New York's Carnegie Hall to singing conventions and church platforms. They have performed throughout the United States as well as in Israel, Europe, and Africa. Their unique blend of harmonies and song choices have created a legacy of musical excellence embraced by leading pastors and event organizers. The family is favorites on the Gaither Homecoming videos and tours, and their recordings frequently land near the top of the BILLBOARD sales charts and multiple radio charts. They are one of the most highly celebrated artists in music with over 50 awards, eight number one songs along with multiple top 5 songs. Additionally, Claude Hopper is a member of the SGMA Hall of Fame and group members Claude, Connie, Kim, and Dean hold honorary Doctorate Degrees from Oakland City University.
