Marty Stuart Returns with "Saturday Night & Sunday Morning;" Listen to his new song "Rough Around the Edges" Here
Following the release of Marty Stuart's Gaither Music release "The Gospel of Marty Stuart" earlier this year, he is set to release his second release this year. And he's releasing not just one disc. Rather, "Saturday Night & Sunday Morning" is a double disc release that arrives on Sept. 30 on his own Superlatone label.
The first disc "Saturday Night - Rough Around The Edges" finds Stuart tackling a disc's worth of traditional country songs. "A few years ago, I rededicated myself to traditional country music," he told Billboard. "We spent some time in RCA Studios in Nashville, where so much of modern country was created, and we worked to imitate that style of production and songwriting."
The second disc "Sunday Morning - Cathedral" centers around songs that has to do with Stuart's Christian faith. This set which will serve as a sequel to this year's "The Gospel of Marty Stuart" and 2008 disc "Souls' Chapel," one of the most critically acclaimed projects of Stuart's carer. Joining Stuart on the latter are the Staple Singers on "Uncloudy Day." The album features Stuart's crack band of musicians, The Fabulous Superlatives, comprised of "Cousin" Kenny Vaughan, "Handsome" Harry Stinson, and the "Apostle" Paul Martin.
