'Low Down' Movie 2014 Starring Elle Fanning and John Hawkes Releases New Trailer, Watch Here (VIDEO)
The upcoming bio-pic movie Low Down from director Jeff Preiss has released a new trailer, which you can check out above.
The film is based on the memoirs written by Amy-Jo Albany (play by Elle Fanning) about her father, famed jazz pianist, Joe Albany (play by John Hawkes) and his struggles with drug addiction.
Along with Fanning and Albany, Low Down stars Lena Headey Peter Dinklage, Tim Daly, Taryn Manning, Billy Drago, River Ross and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who also is an executive producer of the film along with his band mate Anthony Kiedis.
Plot: Joe Albany was a well accomplished jazz pianist during the 1960s and 1970s performing with the likes of Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, and Charles Mingus before his descent into heroin addiction. The film tells the story of Albany's life from the perspective of his then 11 year old daughter Amy Albany through her own personal memoirs. A look at the life of pianist Joe Albany from the perspective of his young daughter, as she watches him contend with his drug addiction during the 1960s and '70s jazz scene.
The film premiered in competition at 2014 Sundance Film Festival on January 19, 2014. It won the Cinematography Award: U.S. Dramatic at the festival. The film opens in limited release on October 24, 2014 in New York and October 31, 2014 in Los Angeles.
"We got it done based on an arbitrary date on a calendar," director Priess said about finishing the film by the Sundance Festival deadline. "It had gotten hard for me to watch the movie alone," he explained, "but having the vicarious experience of seeing the movie through an audience's eyes is heart pounding. You have a much greater trust in what you like and don't like in that setting."
"I think there must be over a thousand changes," he said. "The result is the languid moments become more powerful in their atmosphere by virtue of being surrounded by scenes that are paced sharper."
