Gospel Music's Songwriter Mosie Lister's Funeral Announced

On February 12, we bid farewell to Thomas Mosie Lister.  He was 93 years-old.  Lister is known as a songwriter for over 700 songs, with thousands more in arrangements. His music has been recorded by some of the greatest Southern Gospel Quartets including the Statesmen Quartet, Cathedral Quartet, the Blackwoods, the Blue Ridge Quartet, the Jordanaires, and the LeFevres.

Legendary solo artists have also recorded his songs such as George Beverly Shea, Porter Waggoner, Bill Gaither, Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, and Elvis Presley, who recorded three of Lister's songs in the 1960s: "Where No One Stands Alone" "He Knows Just What I Need" and "His Hand in Mine"

Preceded in death by parents, Willis & Pearl Holland Lister; brother, Walter Olan Lister and wife, Wylene Whitten Lister. Survived by wife of 13 years, Martha Jean Lister; daughters, Brenda Lister (Jimmie) Vann & Barbara Lister (David) Williams; step-daughter, Vicki (Michael) Booth; sister, Margery Dillashaw and seven grandchildren.

A Homegoing Celebration Concert will take place 11:00AM Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the People's Church, 828 Murfreesboro Rd. Franklin, TN. Private graveside service will take place at Williamson Memorial Gardens . 

Active pallbearers: Steve Mauldin, Michael Booth, Ronnie Booth, Jim Brady, Josh Butterworth and Jake Simmons. Honorary Pallbearers: Bill Gaither, Joe Huffman, Ron Booth, David Williams and Jimmie Vann. 

Memorials may be made to the Community Baptist Church c/o Missions and Music, 3015 Bellshire Village Dr. Spring Hill, TN. Visitation will be 4-8PM Monday at WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 615-794-2289.
