April 2015's Most Anticipated Christian Albums
April 2015 is an exciting month for Christian music. Coming on Holy Week April 7th, three days before Good Friday, is Jesus Culture's This is Jesus Culture a compilation of some of the most influential and impactful songs within the church, including "Your Love Never Fails", "How He Loves", "Rooftops", "Unstoppable Love" and many more. With career sales of over 1.2 million albums, this album is indeed a celebration and (re)introduction of what God has been doing in this Godly influential movement.
A week later, on April 14, Southern Gospel music are in for a treat. Trumphant is releasing "Living in Harmony." The GMA/Dove-nominated powerhouse group is set for its premier release with StowTown. Triumphant will once again partner with producer and StowTown co-founder Wayne Haun on the project. "I cannot wait to get back in the studio with these guys. They are so talented, and working with them is always a pleasure," said Haun. "They are genuine and downright fun. We make a great team."
On the same day, iconic CCM artist Amy Grant will be gracing us with her third hymns album "Be Still And Know... Hymns & Faith," an album that finds Grant revisiting the hymns and songs of the church. This new record finds her teaming up with hubby and country music star Vince Gill on two brand new songs, including the title cut "Be Still and Know."
Also an album to keep an eye out for is Lauren Daigle's debut full length album "How Can It Be." Blessed with a voice that is both smoky and sweet, Lauren Daigle has forged a unique sound that combines the soulful, heart-in-throat vulnerability of Adele, with the passionate fire to serve God that Daigle admires in Brooke Fraser. Her Centricity Music debut, "How Can It Be," is ripe with the kind of compelling lyrics and engaging melodies that invite listeners to draw closer to their creator, and that's just what Daigle had in mind.
Also, releasing on April 14th is the follow-up album by Gospel music's The Showers Family Group. Comprised of ten real life siblings, The Showers are the latest family collective to take the gospel music scene by storm. Quickly likened to the genre's prized family acts The Winans, The Hawkins, and more, the Louisiana natives first gained notoriety aboard the success of their top-selling 2009 independent debut album 'Hear My Prayer'.
Their highly anticipated, self-titled follow-up album will act as the group's national debut. Led by the empowerment anthem "Praise Your Way Through", featuring production from Bruce Robinson, Jr. (Justin Bieber, Fantasia, Joshua Rogers) and vocal production from GRAMMY® award winner Myron Butler (Tamela Mann, Marvin Sapp) and Shawn Willis, the song made its way through to the Top 30 on the Mediabase Gospel Songs Chart with an accumulative listening audience of over 1 million ears shortly after being christened Bobby Jones' October "Power Pick of the Month". The family group debuted their single on the last season of BET's Bobby Jones Gospel Show. Their emotionally driven 2nd single, "Better" written and produced by one of gospel's most noted artists, Deon Kipping, is currently gaining traction at radio.
Vertical Church's leader Jon Guerra's "Little Songs" hits stores on April 21, 2015. Little Songs is the perfect combination of upbeat songs that can be played with the windows down, and introspective melodic songs that cause the listener to look inward and upward.
Contrary to what the title says, Little Songs is packed with songs that are anything but "little" as Jon Guerra's vocal and instrumental prowess proves that he can deliver heartfelt lyrics with a lot of talent. The album's debut single, "Nothing Better," is no exception. It's catchy melody and message that there's "nothing better than your love" will resonate with a culture that is always seeking for something greater.
Also releasing on April 21st is former Mars Hill Church worship pastor Dustin Kensue's new album, "Carry the Fire" on Staple Records/Vagrant Records. The new album is the long anticipated follow-up to his 2007 solo debut, Please Come Home. This is followed on April 28th with Watermark and Passion Conference's Christy Nockels' first live worship album "Let It Be Jesus."
Coming off of the fastest-selling album of his career, Matthew West is back with the all new album "Live Forever." Featuring the hit, "Day One,"the new album will be available April 28th. Matthew West's discography includes the acclaimed releases Happy (2003), History (2005), Something to Say (2008) and The Story of Your Life (2010). His latest album Into The Light was inspired by over 10,000 fan-written stories. The album released on September 25, 2012, and earned a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. Also receiving a GRAMMY® nomination for songwriting in 2013, his vast writing credits include Casting Crowns, Natalie Grant and Mandisa along with acts like Rascal Flatts, Billy Ray Cyrus and Diamond Rio.
