Deon Robertson Releases New Single "My Praise" and Hosts Education Fundraiser Concert For Hometown of Oklahoma City
Deon Robertson is an international recording artist who is coupling his music ministry with community outreach. Deon grew up in Oklahoma City, OK and is a product of the Oklahoma City Public School system. The current state of the education system in Oklahoma City is in desperate need of assistance and Deon has graciously decided to donate a portion of the proceeds of his new single "My Praise" to the schools in his community that are in need of books. On August 18th, Deon will host his "My Praise Single Release and Education Fundraiser".
"It is unacceptable for our young people to not receive a quality education," Deon expresses. "I believe that we must invest in our children's future together. On the day of my concert, the Oklahoma City Public School Foundation will be presented with fundraising efforts from my concert."
The National Center for Educational Statistics reported that students in Oklahoma were performing much lower than students in neighboring states: Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri. According to the report, only 30% of fourth grade students and 29% of eighth grade students earned a proficient score on state tests. The Oklahoma State Department of Education reports that in Oklahoma City, 59 of the 70 public schools scored a D or F on the state report card in 2016. Deon would like to be a positive influence in improving these statistics.
Deon is committed to doing his part to combat illiteracy, support better education practices and children in Oklahoma City. His "My Praise Single Release and Education Fundraiser" will be held at the Oklahoma City Faith Event Center, 800 South Portland Ave, Oklahoma City, OK on Fri, August 18 at 7:00PM. Tickets can be purchased for $10-$12 at eventbrite.com.
Deon's soulful new single is written and produced by multi-award winning hit-makers Derek "DC" Clark and Anson Dawkins. "My Praise" is available on digital music outlets August 18. Listen To "My Praise"
