Museum of the Bible Joins Washington Theological Consortium as Public Educational Member
The Museum of the Bible officially joined the Washington Theological Consortium Wednesday, July 1, as the Consortium's first public educational institution member.
The Washington Theological Consortium is a community of graduate theological schools and partners from diverse traditions. Together, the Museum of the Bible and the Consortium will pursue ecumenical dialogue, interfaith understanding, and educational collaboration.
Consortium members span 14 theological schools and organizations, including the School of Theology and Religious Studies at The Catholic University of America, Wesley Theological Seminary, the Howard University School of Divinity, Reformed Theological Seminary, and the Institute for Islamic, Christian, and Jewish Studies.
The Executive Director of the Consortium, Dr. Larry Golemon, said, "We are excited about this new partnership as it will enhance the public educational outreach of both institutions and deepen the academic study of the Bible, its cultures, and its history." Consortium faculty members and librarians have already been introduced to exhibits and artifact possibilities for teaching and research.
The Washington Theological Consortium created a new category of membership, "Public Educational Institutions," for the Museum of the Bible to be able to join as the charter member of the category. The designation is for organizations with a mission for religious studies and holdings relevant to theological education.
"Museum of the Bible invites everyone to engage with the Bible's history, narrative, and global impact," said Jeffrey Kloha, Ph.D., Chief Curatorial Officer at the Museum of the Bible. "As the newest member of the Washington Theological Consortium, we are excited to collaborate in the pursuit of education and interfaith understanding with these institutions and with the wider public."
