Justin Bieber Makes Christian Music Chart Debut Amidst Praises from His Peers
Pop music sensation Justin Bieber enters Billboard's Top Christian Album chart for the first time this week at #3 with his new EP. Freedom, which was released on Easter Sunday, is Bieber's first foray into Christian music. The EP moved 7,000 equivalent album units. Meanwhile Bieber's secular effort Justice reigns at the #1 position on Billboard 200, making this his 8th visit to the pole position.
Bieber's crossover efforts into Christian music has won the support of many of her peers. UK worship leader and former lead singer of Delirious? Martin Smith writes: "So happy for @justinbieber with this new EP. Brave, honest, truthful, pioneering..All the things creatives should aspire to."
Likewise, Maverick City Music's Chandler Moore exclaims: "We got a Easter blessing from my brother @justinbieber. Brilliance."
Tori Kelly, who gets to sing with Bieber on the EP, expresses her gratitude. "(S)o happy to be a part of this project. i love getting to sing about Jesus & his unconditional love for all of us. He is risen!! happy easter everyone."
Mitch Wong, songwriter for Darlene Zschech, Planetshakers, Lincoln Brewster and more, is grateful Bieber is singing the Lord's praises. "Thankful for the gospel reaching people it never has before. How awesome! Thank you!"
Meanwhile, Bieber's pastor, Judah Smith posted the cover of Freedom on his social media account with these words all in caps: "HAPPY EASTER - HE IS RISEN -AND IN HIM WE HAVE FREEDOM. AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE."
