The Battle Between the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and the HTC One Mini 2 Begins as News of the S5 Leaks; Specs and Photos Reveal The Two Rival Each Other in Design, Camera Quality, and Storage
The battle between tiny smartphones continues as Samsung Electronics recently announced the arrival of the Galaxy S5 mini. It's an affordable option for those wanting a smartphone but not willing to pay Apple costs. It's also a good alternative for those who don't really care for a big-screen, newest-feature smartphone. It has all of these things in common with the HTC One Mini 2, which is already being shipped. The S5 mini will be available in Russia this month, so surely the rest of the world will not have to wait too long.
As far as processors go, the S5 mini runs on an unspecificed quad-core processor running at 1.4 GHz, while the One Mini 2 operates on a 1.2 GH quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor. The difference between the two is not likely to be noticeable.
The One Mini 2 shines in design, due to its aluminum chassis. Samsung, on the other hand, has come under criticism to make their products look more premium. The Galaxy S5 has a very similar design to the regular S5. However, because of Samsung's choice of plastic in production, the Galaxy S5 is 17 grams lighter than the One Mini 2, as well as a bit smaller.
HTC beats out Samsung in the camera department, for sure. HTC opted for a 13-megapixel camera for the One Mini 2, and a 5-megapixel front camera. Samsung sprung only for an 8-megapixel back camera and a 2.1-megapixel camera on the front.
Samsung takes the lead for extra features; the Galaxy S5 boasts a heart rate monitor and fingerprint reader, along with being water and dust resistant. The One Mini 2 does not feature many extra talking points, except for two front-facing speakers for users who do not like headphones.
As far as storage goes, both phones operate on 16 GB of storage. The S5 mini has 1.5 GB of RAM, coming out on top over the One Mini 2, which has only 1 GB of Ram.
