The crime drama action film A Walk Among Tombstones that is based on a 1992 novel by Lawrence Brock of the same name will be seen in theaters beginning September 19, 2014. Directed by Scott Frank from a screenplay he wrote, the thriller stars Liam Neeson as main protagonist Matt Scudder, a disgraced ex-NYPD cop and an alcoholic who to earn his living becomes an unlicensed private investigator.
In the film, Scudder is hired by a heroin trafficker to track down those responsible for the kidnapping and brutal murder of his wife. As he did, he discovers that this not the first time these men have committed these sort of heinous crime, nor will it be their last. Scudder tries his best to hunt them and stop them before they can kill again. With an "R" rating from the MPAA, the film can be expected to contain graphic scenes of killings and violence, disturbing language and some nudity.
The cast of A Walk Among Tombstones, which wrapped up filming on October 18 last year, also includes Dan Stevens, Boyd Holbrook, Ruth Wilson, Sebastian Roche, Eric Nelsen, David Harbor, Mark Consuelos, Stephanie Andujar, Purva Vedi, Marie Heller, Olafur, Darri Olafsson, Toshiko Onizawa, and many more in supporting roles.
Regarding the choice of 62-year old Neeson playing the rugged character of Scudder, novelist Brock told The Wrap, "Liam Neeson as Scudder struck me as a wonderful idea back when I saw him portray Michael Collins in the eponymous film. I can't think of anyone I'd rather see in the role.... Neeson has been up at the top of my personal Scudder wish list. I couldn't be happier about either the star or the writer/director, both of them genuine artists and brilliant professionals. My book's in good hands.''
