Emerging from a lifetime of ministry, performance, and creative collaboration, Lola brings a presence that is steady, sincere, and overflowing with hope-marking her as one of the most compelling new artists rising in today's faith-driven music landscape.
Q: "Together at Christmas Time" marks your debut Christmas single and the title track for Christmas at the Cabin. What inspired the song, and how did it end up becoming part of a holiday film?
The collaboration came together by being at the right place at the right time in a divine encounter with supporting actress and executive producer Sharon Oliphant. What inspired the song was the idea of being together at Christmas time, that being with loved ones during the holidays is my most treasured experience.
My husband Jon and I began working on the song right away, and we were able to get the song structure somewhat together while capturing the warmth, nostalgia, and whimsical beauty of Christmas. Later, we decided to bring Allison Sky into the project, and she contributed wonderfully to the verses.
Q: You recently performed as an Emerging Artist at the Infinity Awards in Nashville. What was that experience like, and how did it shape your vision as a rising Christian artist?
Performing as an Emerging Artist at the Infinity Awards was a remarkable honor and truly a door that only God could have opened. Stepping into that room felt like stepping into a moment. He had prepared a quiet confirmation that I am walking in the lane He designed for me.
What impacted me most was being surrounded by such seasoned and profoundly gifted artists. Watching their excellence paired so effortlessly with humility was deeply inspiring. It shaped my vision as a rising Christian artist, reminding me that this journey is about character, stewardship, and serving people with whatever God has placed inside of me.
The entire experience was sweetness to my soul.
Q: Your sound blends Christian pop, Motown warmth, Latin influence, and '70s soul. How did your upbringing in Southern California and your life in Texas shape the unique sonic identity you bring to Christian music?
Growing up in Southern California, music was the heartbeat of my home. Every Saturday morning, my mom would wake me with music blaring from salsa to Juan Luis Guerra, Oscar D'León, Gloria Estefan, Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie, Diana Ross, and jazz artists. Being in the entertainment capital of the world exposed me to a caliber of excellence from a young age, letting me witness what it was like to sing, tour, and be in studios, while also immersing me in a melting pot of cultures, sounds, and genres.
Spanish was my first language, and attending a Spanish church while going to private school introduced me to hymns and songs in both English and Spanish, each with its own flair. From early on, I realized music was the way I expressed prayer and poured out my heart to the Lord.
Moving to Texas helped me recognize the sound I had all along a gospel-infused, soulful voice, and it was here, especially around Nashville, that I realized this is where I truly fit and could lean fully into the sound God had given me.
Q: You've collaborated with an impressive list of writers, producers, and musicians from Consumed by Fire to Robert Venable and Scotty Willbanks. What is one lesson or moment from those collaborations that deeply impacted your artistry?
The biggest lessons I've learned from my collaborations have been invaluable. Working with Kirk Franklin showed me how to make everyone in the room feel seen and valued, while modeling humility and a work ethic that I will treasure and carry with me forever. Robert Venable taught me the importance of excellence and integrity, taking me under his wing and helping me navigate the music business with wisdom. Collaborating with the guys from Consumed by Fire refined my lyrical abilities and strengthened my songwriting skills.
I am deeply thankful for these experiences and the people God has placed around me. They continue to shape my artistry, and I hope to never stop learning from those I'm privileged to work alongside.
Q: You often talk about helping people move "from religion into relationship, from heaviness into joy." How does that spiritual mission guide your songwriting and the stories you choose to tell?
My desire is to leave people better than I found them, and that guides everything I write. In my songwriting, I acknowledge the situation, emotion, or challenge I may be facing, or one that I feel particularly led by the Spirit to address. I point to the truth in Romans 8:28 that God truly does turn all things together for good for those who are called according to His purposes and who love Him.
I write from this perspective because I firmly believe that God always works every situation for good. This belief shapes my songs, reminding both myself and listeners that even in difficult seasons, there is a golden thread woven through life by a God who deeply and passionately loves us.
Q: Beyond music, you mentor young artists and work with filmmakers on faith-based creative projects. How do these different creative roles feed into your growth as an artist, and what can fans expect from you next?
I see mentorship as a two-way flow, it's not just one-way, but a dynamic exchange. I thrive on creativity, collaboration, and fun, and there's so much joy and fresh perspective that comes from being around young artists and working with filmmakers on faith-based projects. These experiences have expanded my thinking and reminded me that God can revive dreams we thought were dead.
Growing up in Los Angeles, I studied acting and music, and being immersed in the entertainment world from a young age taught me so much. Seeing all of those experiences come together in the faith-based community has been incredible. Whether it's writing, strategizing, producing, or creating music, it's a beautiful reminder that God doesn't waste anything, and I get to explore multiple dimensions of creativity while pursuing His purposes.
We're really excited about 2026 and all that's coming ahead! We have several singles in the pipeline, the first being Know Me by Name, which I'm especially excited about, along with several others. I'm also looking forward to beginning production on my upcoming Grace and Grit album alongside Robert Venable and other talented musicians. There's just so much ahead, and I can't wait to share it with everyone.
