Curb Records singer-songwriter Dan Bremnes brings his most personal body of work to date to a powerful close with the release of The Hero & The Villain, available today (January 16). The 15-track album serves as the culminating chapter of a bold, autobiographical trilogy that began with The Hero EP last June and continued with The Villain EP in October.

Written and recorded over the past two-and-a-half years across Costa Rica, Nashville, Los Angeles, and Sweden, The Hero & The Villain captures Bremnes at his most honest and reflective. The album chronicles a deeply internal journey as he wrestles with theology, searches for identity, and ultimately makes peace with his past. Addressing themes of mental health and anxiety with striking vulnerability, the project examines the masks people wear and the lies they tell themselves-while pointing toward the freedom found on the other side of self-examination.

Across the album, Bremnes explores the tension between ego and humility, strength and brokenness, and the limits of his own humanity. The result is an adventurous and emotionally rich collection that celebrates healing, self-acceptance, and the courage it takes to step into the light.

"I was trying to put into words what I was wrestling with-the feeling that there were two sides of my own character at war with each other," Bremnes shares. "There was the one I showed to the world, 'the hero,' and the one I tried to hide, 'the villain.' What I realized was that the so-called villain was actually just the broken parts of myself that had never been healed. Those parts were reaching for my attention-reaching for the light."

He continues, "This has been the most intense and important journey of my life. It's been saving my life. It's been setting me free. This project is my attempt to tell that story and invite others into that journey. My hope is that it helps set someone else free too."

An accompanying music video is also available today, further bringing Bremnes' story to life through striking visuals that echo the album's themes of confrontation, healing, and redemption.
