Former NFL quarterback and Christian humanitarian Tim Tebow delivered a powerful and emotional testimony before the U.S. Senate this week, urging lawmakers to take stronger action against the growing crisis of child sexual exploitation and to pass the proposed Renewed Hope Act of 2026.
Speaking on behalf of victims and survivors, Tebow told members of the Senate that the scale of online child abuse is far greater than many people realize. He warned that every delay in addressing the issue allows more children to suffer.
"Every day we wait, they suffer," Tebow said during his remarks. "Right now, there are kids praying for a rescue-for someone to step up, step in, and do something."
A Crisis Growing Behind the Screens
During the hearing, Tebow pointed to a digital map showing more than 338,000 unique IP addresses in the United States linked to downloading, sharing, or distributing child sexual abuse material. Many of the victims involved in those cases are believed to be under the age of 12.
While law enforcement agencies are actively working to combat the problem, Tebow noted that only a small portion of those cases can be investigated due to limited resources and personnel.
"This is a fight of good versus evil," Tebow said. "And right now, we are losing."
Operation Renewed Hope
Tebow also highlighted the impact of Operation Renewed Hope, an initiative supported by the Tim Tebow Foundation in partnership with global law enforcement agencies.
Through three major investigative operations, the initiative has helped authorities identify more than 1,100 previously unknown victims who appeared in child abuse images circulating online. So far, more than 550 children have been rescued and safeguarded.
The effort involves collaboration between organizations including the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, Interpol, Europol, and investigators from multiple countries working together to identify victims and track down offenders.
Despite these successes, Tebow said the scale of the problem continues to expand. Databases used by investigators now contain more than 89,000 unidentified children worldwide, a number that has steadily increased as online exploitation grows.
Urging Congress to Act
Tebow used his testimony to encourage lawmakers to pass the Renewed Hope Act, legislation designed to provide additional funding, technology, and investigative resources for agencies working to identify victims and prosecute offenders.
"We have the strategy. We have the tools. We have the expertise," Tebow told senators. "We just have to commit the resources and the will to act on a larger scale."
He emphasized that expanding investigative teams and victim identification programs could dramatically increase the number of children rescued.
"A Thin Line Between Tortured and Treasured"
In one of the most moving moments of the hearing, Tebow described visiting a protection center that shelters girls rescued from trafficking and exploitation.
Inside the facility, counseling rooms filled with toys and stuffed animals help young survivors begin the long process of healing. Yet the security surrounding the center is a reminder of the dangers many of them escaped.
Reflecting on that experience, Tebow shared a phrase spoken by a member of his team that has stayed with him ever since.
"It's a thin line between tortured and treasured," he said. "And you are that thin line."
A Mission Rooted in Faith
Tebow explained that the mission of the Tim Tebow Foundation is to bring faith, hope, and love to people facing their darkest moments, particularly those who cannot defend themselves.
For Tebow, advocating for vulnerable children is not only a humanitarian cause but also a calling rooted in faith and compassion.
"These children are worth fighting for," he said.
He concluded by encouraging Americans to speak up and urge their elected leaders to support stronger action against child exploitation.
"Use your voice," Tebow said. "Tell Congress to pass the Renewed Hope Act and help bring hope to children who have been forgotten."
