Genre-blending country artist Matt Cooper has joined forces with faith-driven hip-hop artist Lathan Warlick for a new version of his breakout single, "Highs & Lows (Remix)." The collaboration was released March 6 via Quartz Hill Records, giving the rising country hit a fresh sound that blends storytelling country music with inspirational rap.
The remix reinvents Cooper's debut radio single, which quickly made an impact at U.S. Country Radio, debuting as the No. 1 Most Added Song according to Mediabase and continuing to climb the charts. The original version has also earned more than 12 million streams, gaining attention for its heartfelt message and relatable storytelling.
By bringing Warlick into the project, the remix expands the song's central theme of navigating life's difficult seasons while holding on to hope and faith. Known for merging hip-hop, country, and gospel influences, Warlick adds new spoken-word verses that reflect personal stories of struggle, redemption, and perseverance.
"I came in with the song 'Highs & Lows' and told Lathan the story behind why I wrote it," Cooper said. "The remix sounds awesome and I can't wait for everyone to hear it."
Warlick said the message of the song resonated deeply with him.
"It's an amazing song," he shared. "Matt already killed it on the original, and when he called me for the remix I had to jump on it because I wanted to talk about the highs and lows people go through in life. Everyone has a story."
The original version of "Highs & Lows" was written by Cooper and produced alongside rising Texas-born artist Brooks Huntley. The song itself was inspired by a powerful moment in Cooper's life when he attended a grief therapy class following the loss of his mother to cancer. During the session, he heard another man share his personal testimony, which ultimately inspired the emotional narrative behind the track.
For the remix, Cooper and Warlick co-wrote new elements of the song, with production handled by The720. While the uplifting chorus remains intact, Warlick's verses introduce new perspectives about life's struggles and the hope that can be found through faith and perseverance.
Music outlets have already praised the original track for its meaningful storytelling. Billboard highlighted the song's relatability, while Taste of Country noted how the track balances serious themes with an uplifting and memorable melody. The outlet also named Cooper among its "2026 Artists to Watch."
Cooper, a Jacksonville, Florida native, has been steadily building a growing audience with his blend of country, Americana, and roots-pop influences. He has amassed more than 1.7 million social media followers and nearly 200 million streams across his music catalog. His music career has also seen him share stages with artists such as Jelly Roll, Chris Janson, Parmalee, and Kameron Marlowe.
Warlick, originally from Jackson, Tennessee, has also gained attention for his unique sound that fuses hip-hop, country, and gospel themes. Following a personal faith transformation, he began using music as a platform to promote positivity, unity, and spiritual reflection.
Fans will also have the chance to see Cooper perform live later this spring when he joins Jon Pardi, Koe Wetzel, Jackson Dean, and Meghan Patrick at the Boots in the Park festival in Fresno, California on April 18.
"Highs & Lows (Remix)" is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, and other major streaming platforms.
