Olivia Munn, best known for her role in X-Men: Apocalypse, is opening up about a deeply personal health journey-one that has since turned into a life-saving mission for thousands of women.

The actress revealed that she was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer in April 2023, despite having no symptoms at all. In fact, Munn shared that both her mammogram and ultrasound results initially came back clear, making the diagnosis even more unexpected.

What ultimately led to the discovery was a simple online tool known as the Lifetime Risk Assessment test, a quick questionnaire designed to estimate a person's risk of developing breast cancer. While a score above 20% is considered high risk, Munn's result came back at 37.3%, prompting further testing that uncovered the disease early.

"No symptoms. And I had a clear mammogram and a clear ultrasound," Munn said in a recent interview, highlighting how easily her condition could have gone unnoticed.

Following the diagnosis, Munn took immediate and aggressive steps in her treatment. She underwent multiple procedures, including a double mastectomy, ovariectomy, and partial hysterectomy. Today, she says her cancer risk score has dropped to zero-a result she describes as both overwhelming and life-changing.

Rather than keeping her journey private, Munn chose to speak out. She began sharing her story publicly, encouraging other women to take the same risk assessment test that helped save her life. The impact has been significant: reports indicate that use of the test has increased by 4,000% since she began raising awareness.

"Knowing that it's really changed so many people's lives... there's no way I could have ever predicted it," she said.

Throughout her recovery, Munn credits her husband, comedian John Mulaney, for being a constant source of support. The couple, who married in 2024, navigated the challenging season together, with Mulaney attending doctor's appointments and even taking notes to better understand her treatment.

"You know, having the humor to go through it... it just lightens everything," Munn shared, noting how his presence helped bring moments of relief during an otherwise difficult time.

As a mother of two young children, Munn says the experience has reshaped how she views everyday life. It's no longer about major milestones, but the quiet, ordinary moments that often go unnoticed.

"Life happens on a Tuesday," she said. "Every day, you should just be so present and grateful... all I wanted were the little moments."

Now balancing motherhood, advocacy, and her acting career-including her role in Apple TV+'s Your Friends and Neighbors-Munn says she feels a renewed sense of perspective.

"I'm so lucky... it's a true privilege to just be alive," she reflected.

Her story continues to resonate far beyond Hollywood, especially as conversations around early detection and preventative care grow. At its core, her journey underscores the importance of paying attention, taking action, and valuing each day.

For many, stories like Munn's carry a deeper reminder-one rooted in gratitude, awareness, and the understanding that life can shift unexpectedly. In those moments, the call to be present, to care for one's health, and to cherish time with loved ones becomes all the more meaningful.
