More troubling details about Hayden Panettiere's final years are emerging - and this time they are coming from a woman who says she witnessed some frightening scenes right outside the actress' West Hollywood home.
Panettiere's former neighbor Mia Terrazas claims she saw the Nashville and Heroes star being removed from her apartment on a gurney by firefighters twice while Panettiere was involved with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson.
According to Terrazas, the incidents happened on July 29, 2023, and January 16, 2024. She claims Panettiere appeared to have visible bruises and bright red marks on her body and says Hickerson was nearby on both occasions.
The neighbor's description is disturbing. Terrazas told Page Six that, from what she witnessed, Panettiere appeared to have been hurt. During the 2023 incident, she says she even approached Hayden as she was being taken away and asked whether she was okay. Hayden reportedly answered that she was.
But the gurney incidents were apparently not the only things that had Terrazas worried.
She claims she regularly heard what sounded like arguments coming from Panettiere's apartment, describing the atmosphere as hostile. Terrazas also recalled an alleged confrontation in an elevator in which she says she heard Hayden telling Hickerson to leave her alone and stop.
Terrazas has previously spoken publicly about how frightened she says she became of Hickerson. She told Inside Edition that she contacted authorities multiple times over disturbances connected with the apartment. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department later confirmed that seven calls were made concerning Hickerson around the complex in August and September 2025, although officials said no arrests resulted from those calls and authorities determined no crime had occurred.
There was even reportedly a warning notice featuring Hickerson's photograph posted at the apartment complex in 2025, instructing residents to contact authorities if he was seen on the property.
Terrazas says what made the situation especially heartbreaking was the change she believed she saw in Hayden herself. Away from Hickerson, she remembered the actress as warm and engaging. Around him, she claimed Hayden appeared much quieter and more subdued.
The allegations take on added weight following Panettiere's shocking death on August 16 at just 36 years old. Hickerson and his brother Zach were at the South Carolina apartment where Panettiere was found unresponsive, according to the police report. First responders attempted to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
However, an important distinction remains: authorities have not accused Hickerson of causing Panettiere's death. Police said their preliminary investigation found no indication of foul play or suspicious circumstances, and the autopsy reportedly found no trauma that contributed to her death. Her official cause and manner of death remain pending.
Hickerson's attorney has also urged the public to allow the investigation to run its course, pointing to authorities' statement that there were no signs of foul play.
Still, Terrazas' account adds another unsettling chapter to what was already known about Panettiere and Hickerson's turbulent history. Hickerson previously faced criminal proceedings stemming from violence against Panettiere, and the actress herself later spoke and wrote publicly about abuse and the complicated decision to allow him back into her life.
Now, after Panettiere's death, the stories coming from people who lived only doors away are painting an increasingly painful picture of what may have been happening when the cameras were nowhere around.
